The role of the Sabaean lexicon in building the Arabic historical lexicon

Abstract

This research deals with one of the most important Semitic languages, which is Southern Arabic, and discusses its different designations and its close connection with Standard Arabic, and its important role in building the historical dictionary of Standard Arabic. As it is considered one of its most important sources, as it represents a linguistic balance that we got through the inscriptions, and it has its own lexicon, the Sabaean lexicon, which needs to be reviewed from time to time in light of the discovered words.

The common expressions rooted between the two languages ​​(anatheses) represent the most prominent aspect. Comparing these expressions in structure and semantics reveals much of their history and life path. The research dealt with a kind of common utterances rooted in the two languages, some of their connotations disappeared in the classical compared to the predicate language. The language of the predicate, and the importance of proving that in the historical dictionary of classical Arabic as a previous record of these terms.
